The houses also did not meet fire safety requirements because they were too close together. They are now covered with fire-resistant facade cladding that should ensure that a fire does not spread. This has been coordinated with the safety region and the municipality of Medemblik, according to the housing association.
Het Grootslag is disappointed with the recent delay. “We understand very well that this delay is frustrating for tenants, but we are now mainly dependent on Liander when the power is connected,” a spokesperson told NH.
Four tenants dropped out
Network operator Liander installed the necessary transformer house two weeks ago, after which the flex homes can be connected to the power grid between December 15 and 24.
“We think this is positive because we see that something is happening. As soon as the homes are connected to the power grid, they are technically checked. The rental contracts can then be signed and the keys handed out,” says a spokesperson.
In the meantime, four tenants have dropped out who were eligible for another home and chose to do so. No new tenants have been appointed yet, says Het Grootslag. “As soon as we know for sure when the homes can be delivered, we will approach new candidates.”
Throw a party
In any case, there is no shortage of enthusiasm, given the many interested parties. As soon as the rental date is known, Het Grootslag expects to be able to rent out the vacated houses quickly. What will Dyon do first as soon as he gets the keys? “Having a party in the garden,” he laughs. “Although it is cold outside. Maybe with a fire pit, together with the other tenants? Nice to get together and celebrate that we finally have our house.”
He is happy that the end seems to be in sight now that the transformer house has been installed and all that remains is to wait for Liander to connect the houses to the power grid. “If you have to wait that long, it’s a relief. I’m really looking forward to it, can’t wait for my own cutie to have.”
At the beginning of September, Dyon already took a look at his new house:
