The action came as a surprise to the mayor of Izegem, Kurt Grymonprez. The clubs currently pay no rent and receive more than 80,000 euros in subsidies. The city council plans to charge rent from now on. This has also been communicated to the advisory council. “If you have to invest a lot yourself, you also ask for a share in return. But we are going to invest that back in the sport,” Mayor Grymonprez adds.
