An alarm bell. After an exceptional first part of the season, Bayern Munich has been showing some gaps for a few weeks. Especially in defence, the Bavarians no longer seem as impervious as before. And so, on the 14th day of the Bundesliga, against bottom Mainz it only ended 2-2. And it even went well for Kompany’s team, given that, after yet another goal from 17-year-old Karl (in the 29th minute) and opposing goals from Potulski (45′) and Lee Jae-Sung (67′), the equalizer was only achieved in the 87th minute and on a penalty with Kane. The Bavarians, despite always having ball possession around 75%, were never able to create great opportunities, struggling to find the right spaces against the Mainz defence, which for a long time concentrated in front of their goalkeeper. In addition to the sudden offensive sterility, however, Kompany must begin to reflect on the defensive problems: in the first 9 days his Bayern had conceded just 4 goals, instead they conceded 7 goals in the following 5 games. The difference is evident. In Germany, despite the drop in performance, the advantage over the second place is significant (9 points). In Europe, however, empty passes like this are not allowed.
