Lale Gül’s security has been stopped, even though she says she receives death threats every day. However, the opinion maker does not dare to live without security and is therefore considering embarking on a political adventure. She understood from JA21 politician Ingrid Coenradie that in politics you are always offered to be protected.
No Christmas
Lale is interested in that. “In politics you do have a chance of security, but a writer like me does not. That is why I am seriously considering participating in the municipal elections,” she says to the newspaper. ANP.
She continues: “I feel the most connection with the VVD. I am only 28 and would have liked to wait a little longer. But I am willing to do this to be safe. (…) I am not going to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I am not in the mood for it. Some friends also no longer dare to meet up if my security disappears. Politics is my only hope.”
Wrong reason
Johan Derksen believes that you should enter politics because it is a calling, not because it will protect you. “That’s a wrong argument,” he says at the table Today Inside. “Look, you enter politics because you want to do something for the country, out of conviction, out of vocation, but not because you want to be monitored. Then it is an alternative.”
He continues: “She shouldn’t do that. There should also be a political party that says that to her, like: ‘If you want to go into politics, then you have to actually want it.’ But she just wants to have security.”
Very tricky
It is understandable to me that choices have to be made, says Johan. “I understand: there are so many people being guarded, that costs a fortune and at some point you have to stop doing that, right? But I think it is in her case… She is constantly on TV and then it is always an invitation for a madman to do something.”
