Connie Witteman believes that our government should stop spending billions of euros on Ukraine. “Cutbacks are being made on everything in our country. Even dual-income families are barely making it through!”

It bothers Connie Witteman immensely that our government spends billions of euros on Ukraine every year. She believes that there are plenty of things that money could be better spent on. “You may think I’m stupid, but ‘I’ really don’t understand it anymore!”, says the society star in a long complaint message on Instagram.

Billions

Connie points out that RTL Boulevard campaigned this week for families who are in the cold in our country. “I thought: okay, but what if you fall just outside the 6,000 people (who are being helped, ed.) and you read that billions have just been donated to Ukraine?”

She thinks it’s scandalous. “In our country, cuts are being made everywhere. Even families with two earners can barely make ends meet because everything has become so incredibly expensive, let alone being able to celebrate a pleasant December, despite their hard work!!”

Common sense

Connie believes that this massive aid to Ukraine must come to an end. “I think with my ‘farmer sense’: how great it would be for the government if they would first invest all those billions in our own country, so that all children can play sports for free and there is not so much financial pressure and worries on those families.”

“And I’m not even talking about the elderly among us! But wouldn’t that make the Netherlands a lot more pleasant? Have we ever had a say in this? Or do ‘I’ just see it all wrong?”
