Snow plow Schiphol in action all night: delays and 80 cancellations anyway

At Schiphol, the winter weather causes delays and cancellations. The snow plow has been in action all night and morning to keep the runways clear of snow. Most of the delays are due to the de-icing of the aircraft, the de-icing of the fuselage, wings and tail surfaces before departure.

Eighty flights have been cancelled. According to a spokesperson, the delay is an average of one hour. Air traffic approaching Schiphol sometimes also has to wait longer to be allowed to land. The aircraft then fly in circles at fixed waiting areas above the North Sea, South Holland and Flevoland.
