The Athletic has published the results of its traditional “which NHL player would you like to beat” poll.
The paper asked from a total of 120 players, which player could he beat. 107 answers were collected.
The top two on the list is not surprising.
In the first place of the list, the Ottawa Senators are begging for blood Nick Cousins. The Florida Panthers’ summer 2024 Stanley Cup champion is known for his questionable antics on the rink.
Finns may remember Cousins especially from the situation where he dangerously tackled a Finnish defender Juuso Välimäki. Välimäki fell to his knees near the sideline, and Cousins slammed his tackle into Välimäki, who was in a vulnerable position.
Cousins has also gained a reputation as a diver. He has received fines for filming this season as well.
Cousins received as much as 24.3 percent of the vote.
– I can’t stand him. I’ve heard he’s a good guy, but I’d enjoy beating him, one player replied.
– He is an efficient rat. He’s good at what he does, your second.
In the second place on the list is “handsome” the star forward of the Florida Panthers Brad Marchand. This is not really a surprise either.
Marchand is a thorn in the opponent’s flesh primarily in the form of verbal psyching.
He also boldly and ruthlessly reminds opponents of their mistakes.
19.6 percent of the respondents could name Marchand.
– He’s the type you don’t want to play against, one said.
– Probably more people answer him, another guessed.
After the two, there is a clear difference to the third player, who is from the Florida Panthers Matthew Tkachuk.
One Finn had also received a vote: the Nashville Predators Erik Haula.
