While Evert Santegoeds expects that Arjen Lubach’s RTL contract will not be extended, Tina Nijkamp is slightly more hopeful for the fallen satirist. “But I think he Videoland-only is becoming.”
RTL 4 thought a real one with Arjen Lubach hotshot to get in, but so far it’s all been a bit disappointing. He doesn’t make much of an impression among viewers of the commercial channel and, according to critics, that’s because he simply doesn’t matches with the target group of the TV station. The first year of his multi-million contract is over. Will he actually stay at RTL after 2027?
Videoland-only
Private boss Evert Santegoeds thinks that Arjen will be out of RTL 4 in two years, but TV authority Tina Nijkamp is slightly more hopeful for the satirist. “Yes, I think it will be extended. I think so myself. But I actually think it will become a Videoland-only program, so that it will also fall under Videoland in terms of budget.”
She continues in the podcast Tina’s TV Update: “Videoland will of course receive more and more budget in the coming years and the linear channels will of course receive less and less money because it is simply – unfortunately but true – becoming less and less important.”
Salary reduction
Arjen will have to take a salary reduction into account, Tina thinks. “I think his contract will be extended. Maybe he will have to give up some salary, that could well be the case.”
She concludes: “I don’t know how much he earns now, but that is a lot, and with Videoland you obviously have a much smaller reach than with RTL 4. That’s just the way it is. But I do think he will become a Videoland-only program. That’s what I actually think.”
