Finland’s mountain legend was the story of a Polish journalist.

A Polish newspaper asked Janne Ahos to return to hangover jumping. Jussi Saarinen

Janne Ahonen remembers in an interview with the Polish media about his 2005 giant jump in Planica, which he said he did in a hangover.

Fakt magazine asked From Ahose, is it true that he flew until the crack of dawn and climbed the tower of the airport in a noticeable rush.

– Maybe it wasn’t as dramatic as it sounds. I did celebrate the night before, but not until the morning, the “Kuningskotka” taunted.

In the biographical book published in 2009, he explained the background a little more casually. Ahonen said that in the previous situation, he had been beaten by a teammate from the national team Risto Jussilainen with 24 cans of beer in two cases.

Ahonen stumbled to the flat of the 240-meter slice, hit the back of his head on the slope and left the mountain on a stretcher.

The Polish journalist continued the story by saying that the performance was scary to watch.

– Of course, there are always risks. And maybe that’s one of the reasons why I got interested in ski jumping. That’s how it is.

The work interested me

Fakt also asked about Ahonen’s current affairs, including work patterns.

I read in the Finnish press that you work on television and… in a factory?

– Yes. In the winter, I worked as a ski jumping commentator on Finnish television. In addition, I work at Kempower, where we manufacture charging equipment for electric vehicles. I’ve been working for a Finnish company for almost three years, and it’s really completely different from hill jumping, Ahonen laughs.

Mäkilegenda’s factory wash remained hidden from the public for a long time in Finland. It only became public this fall.
