On July 22, 2025, Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76. Many fans and also his widow Sharon Osbourne fell into deep mourning. Now the wife of the deceased spoke for the first time about the emotional events of the day of his death and even shared the singer’s last words.

Date of death in detail for the first time

In an interview with US talk show host Piers Morgan for his show “Uncensored”, Sharon Osbourne spoke in detail for the first time about the anniversary of her husband’s death and his last words. It was probably the hardest moment in the 73-year-old’s life so far when the Black Sabbath frontman died of heart failure on July 22nd at his home in the English county of Buckinghamshire. Two weeks earlier he and his bandmates gave a final farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham.

Heart attack in the gym and final words

As “The Sun” reported in advance from the interview, the self-proclaimed “Prince of Darkness” addressed his last words to his wife at 4:30 a.m. that morning. He was repeatedly in the bathroom and then woke up his wife. She told him he had kept her up all night anyway. He replied, “Kiss me. Hold me tight.” The musician was known to still train regularly in his fitness room despite his health problems. He also visited him in his last hours after his last words to his wife.

Shortly afterwards, the widow heard screams from the fitness room and immediately ran there. Someone from the staff had already been there. “He had a heart attack!” Sharon Osbourne told Piers Morgan in an interview. It continued: “I ran down the stairs and there he was lying. They tried to resuscitate him and I said: ‘No – leave it. Leave him. You can’t do anything. He’s gone.'” Nevertheless, the 76-year-old was taken to the hospital by helicopter. His wife continued: “They tried and tried, and I just thought: He’s gone. Let him go.”

According to Sharon Osbourne, her husband was aware in his final months that he was nearing his end. Doctors had also advised him against playing his final performance. However, the “Prince of Darkness” insisted on the concert.

Emotional message to the father of the family

For Ozzy Osbourne’s 77th birthday, his wife and daughter Kelly posted emotional messages on social media. There was a series of pictures on Instagram with previously unpublished photos and intimate moments of the couple. The 73-year-old wrote: “Happy birthday, my love. I miss you so much. I love you forever.” She also posted a video of a floral arrangement on the Black Sabbath Bridge in Birmingham. You can also see a sign from four of the couple’s six children. It reads: “We love you, Daddy. With love, Louis, Aimee, Kelly and Jack.”

The musician has struggled with numerous health problems in recent years. A fall in the family home worsened his condition. He then announced that he had Parkinson’s disease. After 30 years in the USA, the family returned to Great Britain. His return home and his departure from the stage are discussed in the documentary “Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home”. This also features previously unpublished material from the farewell concert in Villa Park.
