It could be that Gerard Joling will be allowed to appear more often in Today Inside if his current boss Peter van der Vorst is promoted away, thinks Wilfred Genee. “It fits perfectly.”

The men of Today Inside have a good relationship with Gerard Joling. The singer has the same conservative ideas as the gentlemen and is just as bawdy, but his current boss Peter van der Vorst does not want him in that program too often. He even imposed a real Today Inside quota on the singer.

‘Chemistry fits perfectly’

Gerard reappeared the day before yesterday in VI and a compilation of it was broadcast yesterday. “He is also very quick with everything,” notes table guest Job Knoester.

Johan Derksen then says: “Well, his chemistry suits us perfectly.”

Wilfred Genee: “I also asked him in the corridors… Who knows, now that Peter van der Vorst is leaving, there are possibilities that he might come more often, or he should release more songs or just sing old songs. That is of course also possible.”

Rancid television

Johan thinks that Peter should not talk so much. “Well, if Peter van der Vorst broadcasts the program he has planned, then he can no longer forbid anyone to do anything.”

Wilfred: “Yes, The Villains or something.”

Johan: “Then you get a house full of all the scary characters from the Netherlands that you don’t want to have anything to do with. They then come into a house and just start acting crazy.”

Mind on mute

Job doesn’t understand it. “Your mind is at a standstill, because then they say: Temptation Island is no longer neat, we don’t do that anymore and then they come up with this!”

Johan: “I think this is worse!”

Job: “Yes, at least!”

Johan: “They are all scary people.”

Wilfred: “This is really bizarre.”

Just call

Wilfred indeed asked Gerard about it directly. “Oh, Gerard, one more small thing. Now that Peter van der Vorst is gone, can you come more often?” In The Walkways.

Gerard cannot give a direct answer to that. “Um, then you should call RTL or Peter van der Vorst or Ellen Meijerse or Sven Sauvé.”

Two additional shows

RTL remains fully committed to Gerard, because the second season of his soap will have two extra episodes. Private boss Evert Santegoeds talks about this in the podcast Strictly Private: “Yes, I understand that. What Peter van der Vorst did do well was to think that it would be very nice to see Gerard Joling for an hour and a half on Friday evening.”

Mind youa feature film every week, eh! One and a half million people watched it! Sometimes even two. It’s still amusing, right?”
