If it were up to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), Hussein H. (28) from Oss would have to spend months in jail for sexually assaulting two young girls. H. is suspected of touching, hugging and kissing two young girls in a park in Eindhoven. He is also said to have filmed a woman in a toilet in Café Thomas in Eindhoven.
Two sisters, aged 8 and 10, are playing outside with their new toy airplane in a park near Wasven on August 19, 2023. Until they come home to their mother and father around a quarter to eight, crying and upset.
They say that they were approached by an unknown man, kissed on the neck and on the cheek and that the man touched one of the two under her clothing. He also allegedly said ‘I love you’ several times.
The parents immediately report the incident and the girls are interviewed by special police officers in a child-friendly room. The description allows the police to quickly find the man.
“For months the kids were afraid to go play in a place they love.”
H. will be in court on Wednesday. According to him, the story is not correct. He greeted the girls and shook hands, but did not touch them. He makes this clear through a Somali interpreter, because he does not speak Dutch well enough himself.
H. was born in Oss, but grew up in Somalia. He has been living in Eindhoven for about seven years. In Somalia he has a wife and an eight-month-old baby. At the time of the birth, he was admitted to the Mental Health Service for three weeks for depressive complaints. His criminal record is empty.
The victims are not at the trial. Their lawyer says that the events have had many consequences for the family. “For months the kids were afraid to go play in a place they love.”
H. continues to deny it and his lawyer says that no DNA of the suspect was found on the girls. Maybe they’re just shocked by the guy? The officer doesn’t think so. “An expert has looked at the statements and according to him they are reliable.” The eldest girl also drew a comic strip about what happened.
“The men’s room was occupied and I couldn’t hold my pee anymore, so I went to the ladies.”
The second offense of which H. is suspected will be discussed below. On October 20, 2024, he filmed a girl in the ladies’ toilet of Café Thomas, while she was sitting in the cubicle next to him on the toilet. The girl works in the cafe. She immediately called security.
H. says that he indeed made a video, but he did so because the girl threw water on him. He also explains why he was in the ladies’ room. “The men’s room was occupied and I couldn’t hold my pee anymore, so I went to the ladies.”
The public prosecutor demands six months in prison, two of which are conditional, and a location ban for the Wasven, because the facts have had a huge impact on the victims. The court will give its ruling in two weeks.
