Star striker Rasmus Karjalainen returns to AC Oulu after two years at SJK. The contract between Karjalainen and AC Oulu extends until the end of the 2028 season.
– From Rasse, we get a very important piece for the team. He can play in several different roles on the offensive end and thus brings options, AC Oulu’s director of sports Mika Nurmela states on the club’s website.
The 29-year-old forward scored nine goals in 28 games in the Veikkausliiga last season.
– In addition to his goal-scoring ability, he brings leadership through his personality and increases the level of demands in the team’s everyday activities. I am very satisfied that we got Rasse back to Oulu, Nurmela continues.
The Karjalian last played for AC Oulu in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The man returns to a familiar city with good feelings.
– AC Oulu has always been a dear club to me and it was completely clear that returning home was one option. Right from the beginning, there were clear tunes with the club.
Karjalainen believes that the club is going in the right direction.
– I think AC Oulu must reach the top 6 clubs in Finland.
AC Oulu was tenth in the Veikkausliiga last season. After the preliminary series, the best six advance to the upper final series, the so-called Championship Series.
