Several people eagerly awaited the approaching snow. There was talk of a layer of perhaps five to ten centimeters on Friday morning. Waking up in a white world. But many people who opened the curtains on Friday morning saw only a little sludge.
“The regional differences are very large”, agreed weatherman Wilfred Janssen of Weerplaza early Friday morning in the radio program ‘Wakker!’ on Omroep Brabant. “This is also the case in Brabant. The battle between the soft and cold air took place above the province. If you are just on the warm side, the snowfall was just not intense enough to remain or precipitation falls in the form of wet snow or rain. Then of course nothing remains. In some places, however, the cold air wins. There it snows a lot and you have a white world. So when you open the curtains at home, it is a bit of a surprise whether there is some snow or not. But there is also quite a nice layer in the places where there is something.”
The five to ten centimeters that were cautiously spoken of earlier this week, has indeed fallen, according to Wilfred. “Locally, especially in the somewhat higher areas and in places where the snowfall last night was intensive. In most places you can see that the garden furniture and the grass has turned a little white. There is then a layer of one to two If you still want to be able to enjoy it, you have to be there early, because such a thin layer melts – especially at this time of year – quite quickly in the course of the morning.”
According to Wilfred, no more snow is expected in the night to Saturday. “No, then it will slowly clear up. It will be cold next night with temperatures below zero. The roads are wet, so you may have to take slipperiness into account locally.”
