Carlo Boszhard has put himself forward for the position of program director at RTL 4 for years, but now that position is vacant, he is still withdrawing. “I’m too busy.”
56-year-old Carlo Boszhard has said in numerous interviews in the past that he would love to become the program director of RTL 4. “I find building and programming a channel very interesting. Making decisions about whether or not to broadcast programs, at what time and with which faces, that is the job,” he said, for example.
Carlo not keen
Almost seven years ago, Carlo saw his dream of succeeding Erland Galjaard as channel boss of RTL 4 go up in smoke. It was Peter van der Vorst. Quite a shame, although the same Peter ensured that Carlo’s career as a TV star was completely resuscitated. He is completely part of it again, and he owes that entirely to Peter.
Precisely for that reason, Carlo is no longer keen on that position, even now that Peter is being promoted away. “We’re going to see who will be the successor. Maybe Carlo Boszhard, I thought, but he doesn’t want to do it,” says Telegraaf journalist Jordi Versteegden in the podcast Strictly Private.
‘Too busy for the time being’
Then why doesn’t Carlo want to? Jordi knows. “I spoke to him briefly and he said: ‘I’m still too busy with my programs on the TV for the time being.’”
Colleague Evert Santegoeds said: “You also have a lot of management positions and Carlo is very creative, but I don’t see him managing that entire team of presenters. That wheelbarrow with frogs that jump in all directions and all have their own wishes and requirements. That is a complicated job.”
