Independence Day was famously celebrated starting in the morning on Saturday, December 6, in traditional ways.
The celebrations began with a national flag-raising ceremony at Tähtitorninmäki in Helsinki, and the President of the Republic, Alexander Stubb, laid a wreath on the hero’s grave at the Hietaniemi cemetery. The top state leadership gathered for the Independence Day ecumenical service and the traditional Independence Day parade was organized this year in Kouvola.
One moment in particular from the morning’s festivities has survived on social media. A video clip of President Tarja Halones during the service’s sermon has gone around with various accompanying texts.
The video comes from the service on Independence Day, the moment when the bishop of the Archdiocese of Turku Mari Leppänen preach.
In the video, President Tarja Halonen closes her eyes for a moment and seems to have dozed off during the sermon. The moment has been humorously combined with several texts related to work meetings.
– Me, when 0.7 seconds have passed the GDPR Compliance training section of the weekly meeting, one publication writes.
– POV: When you’re at the Monday meeting, fresh from the weekend, another one is heard.

– Yes, an elderly person can be tired, the other continues.
– Yes, it’s good to take a little nap during the day, then you’ll be better able to go to the party in the evening.
– He has no obligations anymore. Take a nap.

– After all, there are others out there who are resting their eyes and much younger, one points out.
In addition to work meetings, the video clip has also been combined with a familiar situation from movie nights.
– Then you won’t fall asleep right away if we start watching a movie, one subtitle reads.
– Well, I don’t, the conversation continues.
Until five minutes later, the promise is already broken.
