After the heavy defeat in Leipzig, there is the next bad news for Eintracht Frankfurt. Michy Batshuayi was seriously injured.

The situation at Eintracht Frankfurt is coming to a head: the catastrophic performance at RB Leipzig (0:6) on Saturday evening was followed by further bad news for the Hessians. Striker Michy Batshuayi will be missing from the team “until further notice”. The Bundesliga club announced this on Monday evening.

Reason for the long absence: The 32-year-old was seriously injured in the game against the Saxons. Batshuayi suffered a metatarsal fracture. The club wrote that he had already undergone successful surgery on Monday.

The need for strikers in Frankfurt is becoming ever greater. Coach Dino Toppmöller, who is already being criticized due to the latest results, has to find solutions before the guest appearance in the Champions League at FC Barcelona on Tuesday (from 9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online), but cannot use everything in attack.

Top striker Jonathan Burkardt is also currently out due to injury. Loan returnee Jessic Ngankam was not registered for the premier class and is therefore not eligible to play. And Elye Wahi hasn’t been a factor at all since his move to Frankfurt last winter.

At least: Ansgar Knauff is available to Toppmöller again on the offensive. After recovering from a cold, he was able to take part in the final training. It is quite possible that Knauff will even start in Barcelona. “He has been given the green light and is an option for the starting eleven,” explained the coach.

Can Uzun is also fit again after recovering from a muscle injury. However, with the young Turk, a maximum of one bet is intended as a joker. “But it can be an important piece of the puzzle,” says Toppmöller.
