A fire broke out in an empty building on the outskirts of Oosterhesselen this evening. The fire brigade was alerted around 8.40 pm and upgraded to a medium fire upon arrival.
It is a large building and it took some time for firefighters to find the fire. That is the reason why we scaled up, explains a spokesperson for the Drenthe Safety Region.
The fire brigade had the fire under control around 9:30 p.m. According to the spokesperson, extinguishing the fire may take some time.
The fire released a lot of smoke.
