Right in the heart of Lübeck, company representatives, students and curious people of all ages were able to attend TRANSITIONAL HOUSE Experience what’s happening at the Lübeck AI Experience Days exhibition Hanse Innovation Campus Lübeck is being researched. Experts from CoSA the TH Lübeck showed various AI projects, demonstrators and provided information about the topic of AI-supported quality testing in production for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They were also able to find out more about the courses offered at the TH Lübeck from Annika Dietel and the study guides.
Bringing AI into companies, science and society
Five minutes, one topic: at the Night of AI from the Artificial intelligence in application specialist group (TH Lübeck), the IHK in Lübeck and Artificial Intelligence Schleswig-Holstein (KI.SH) University members and company representatives came together, listened to five-minute pitches about AI in research and practice and then networked until late into the night.
Seven teams consisting of students, researchers, developers and company representatives worked intensively on a solution to a specific problem Hanseatic Hackathon. The team from VisiConsult X-ray Systems & Solutions GmbH received the jury prize on the final evening. Together with their interdisciplinary team, they developed the idea for an AI agent that searches complicated PDF documents in the partial audit of mechanical engineering companies and could thus support auditors in companies. The team from the Techniker Krankenkasse (Schleswig-Holstein state representative) accepted the audience award.
Using AI in schools and universities
Researchers from over 14 countries came to the scientific conference Conversations 2025 at the TH Lübeck Construction Forum to talk about chatbots and human-centered AI.
How AI can be used in vocational training was the topic of the roundtable: AI in vocational training in the TRANSITIONAL HOUSE. Also housed in the TRANSITION HOUSE was the live edition of Podcasts Leaps of thought from Lübeck to the power of 3. The moderator Johanna Helbing discussed the question How does AI shape our world of knowledge? with her guests Roman Spendler (University of Lübeck), Sebastian Hobert (TH Lübeck) and Kris Kuldkepp (Lübeck University of Music).
At Teaching Day 2025, teachers and students from the TH Lübeck and the University of Lübeck met to talk about the future of teaching. Of course, AI also played a role here, for example in Andreas Wittke’s workshop (Institute for Interactive Systems -ISy) via the SummarAIzer, which records audio and summarizes lectures smartly.
Use AI responsibly
Can we use AI responsibly? Thorsten Jonas asked students and interested parties this question in the lecture and afterwards Workshop Sustainability & Ethics in Gen AI.
The workshop for specialists and managers from SMEs by Gilbert Drzyzga (ISy) went in a similar direction. He spoke about the topic Trust in AI and asked the question: How can AI be used responsibly and trustingly?
The FounderCube the TH Lübeck and the University of Lübeck offered two events. On the one hand Founding with law – AI Law Talk: Legal aspects of the use of AI in companies and on the other Patent protection in the age of AI: challenges for science and transfer.
Background to AI Week and outlook for 2026
Under the motto Artificial intelligence by everyone for everyone The event week opened doors across the entire Hanseatic city over six days. The organizers – University of Lübeck, Lübeck University of Technology, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and Fraunhofer IMTE from the Hanse Innovation Campus Lübeck, the IHK Lübeck and that State of Schleswig-Holstein invited everyone to discover future technologies and find out about artificial intelligence and its effects.
Norddeutscher Rundfunk Schleswig-Holstein was the media partner this year, with the presentation by Phillip Kamke, among others. The AI Week is supported by the HI Lübeck project and the BMFTR Innovative University program. More information can be found under this link.
