The stoppage time is displayed in the Eintracht Frankfurt stadium

As of: December 4th, 2025 7:09 p.m

In the future, German football fans in the stadiums will be better informed about a central question.

The general meeting of the German Football League voted unanimously on Thursday to show the actual stoppage time in the two highest leagues on the scoreboards and video screens in the arenas.

The clubs are therefore following a recommendation from the DFL executive committee. The innovation will come into force on January 1, 2026. This means that the first Bundesliga game with the changed rule is the duel between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund on January 9th (8.30 p.m.).

Referee also agreed

According to the current statutes, the display of the playing time must be stopped at 45:00 or 90:00 minutes in both halves at the end of the regular playing time. By adapting the rules of the game guidelines “At the end of the regular playing time, the corresponding display should stop as before, but at the same time the injury time that has actually already been played should be displayed separately (…).“, is it[called

Depending on the technical equipment in the stadiums, it should also be displayed during stoppage time: “What additional time the referee has set at the end of the regular playing time”. The statutes are changed “particularly in the interests of spectators as well as clubs, players and media representatives“, said the DFL. The DFB Schiri GmbH is also “agree with this project.”
