After a quarter century of Aerosmith-delivered pre-recorded thrills at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando is the brand-related roller coaster of the band’s history.
Walt Disney World announced earlier this week that the theme park will permanently remove the Aerosmith presence — including a video in the boarding area that shows the band jamming in the studio — from the attraction, which opened in 1999.
The indoor roller coaster itself will close in spring 2026 and be overhauled to welcome a new band: the Muppets’ Electric Mayhem. At the beginning of this year, Disney had already presented further plans to dedicate this part of Hollywood Studios to the Muppets.
Attraction overhaul
Rock ‘n’ roller coaster Starring Aerosmith premiered in 1999 — set in the wake of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” — and allowed fans to climb into a “shiny limo” that raced through a city to get to the band’s concert in time, while Aerosmith hits were piped into each “limo” vehicle.
Similarly, the Electric Mayhem version will have passengers climb into a “very fast limousine” for “a twisting, twisting, and brashly fun road trip ride across Hollywood to get to the concert in time,” as Disney wrote in a blog post. “Throughout the ride you will hear the Electric Mayhem playing some of the most iconic rocking hits that will keep the music and adrenaline pumping in your ears.”
This is the second time a rock ‘n’ roller coaster Starring Aerosmith has been rebranded: The Disneyland Paris version — an exact duplicate of its Orlando counterpart — was rebranded as Avengers Assemble: Flight Force in 2022.
Disney didn’t reveal exactly what day the Orlando version of Aerosmith will close. But visitors can still ride the roller coaster until the end of the year. The Electric Mayhem version is scheduled to reopen in summer 2026.
