This year, the most personal costumes at Linna’s parties will probably include a designer Jutta Virtanen a creation with a name that speaks volumes: Saint pussy (Finnish: Pyhä pillu). Seta’s chairman wears the suit at the party Anu Kantola.
– About a month ago, I received an invitation to the Linna and I was very pleased with it. It’s nice to be able to honor this precious celebration with your presence. After that I started thinking about what I would like to wear. I want to look great and in the spirit of the party, but also to bring out my own world of values and why I got the invitation, Kantola says about the background of the dress choice.
He got to know young designers and through a tip found Virtanen’s collection for this fall. Kantola fell in love with the Saint pussy evening dress from the collection.
– I contacted him and went to arrange a piece of the collection. That’s when we started working, Kantola laughs.

For Kantola, the costume, inspired by a woman’s genitalia, symbolizes femininity, but also the right to self-determination.
– The vulva is not a gendered thing in itself. In this world situation, efforts have been made to reduce or hide the status of rainbow minorities and women. With this spectacular, festive suit, I want to highlight that.
This year’s Linna party is Kantola’s first. He goes to the party with an enthusiastic mind to respect the traditions and the precious day.
Kantola wrote about the suit on Wednesday Turku Sanomat. After the story, Kantola says that he received a lot of positive feedback.
– I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. I have also received comments from members of parliament. I’ve been floating all day in a bubble of joy.
Kantola believes that the presidential couple also understand the message of the suit.
– I hope they like it. I want to believe they think it’s a fancy dress.
