At the last edition of Formula 1 at the end of August, inspectors found eleven young people at work. Two of them were fifteen years old. A spokesperson for the Dutch Labor Inspectorate told NH that they ‘worked long hours and also worked at night’.
Last year, sixty foreigners were found on the grounds of the Dutch Grand Prix. These people came from Colombia, Peru, Nicaragua and Russia.
They worked through a Rotterdam employment agency as dishwashers and kitchen helpers or performed other work in the hospitality and catering industry.
The employment agency therefore has the Violating the Aliens Employment Act and receiving a fine of 427,500 euros. The company that hired the temporary employment agency in question will also receive 405,000 euros.
“Because they did not check the identity of these people and they also allowed the foreigners to work without a work permit.”
