Disappointment and anger are expressed on social media over the relocation of the Radiohead concerts in Copenhagen. The first two of the four performances in the Danish capital are now scheduled for December 15th and 16th, 2025. The reason: Singer Thom Yorke is currently battling an “extreme sore throat,” which is currently “impossible for him to sing.” The band announced this on Facebook and Instagram.
While many fans show understanding for the ill Yorke and send well-wishes, others are disappointed and even angry. Especially those fans who had or have to travel long distances to Copenhagen. Especially from abroad. They now have to see whether they can cancel hotel bookings and flights.
Now fans in Germany are worried about the band’s planned performances in Berlin (December 8th to 12th, 2025). The crucial question is: Will Yorke be fit enough to sing for two hours on several evenings in a row?
What this means for Radiohead’s Berlin concerts
Radiohead only announced on social media that Yorke had “an extreme sore throat,” with no specific date of illness. The corresponding post is from December 1st, so the symptoms have probably existed since November 30th at the latest.
From a medical point of view, a full recovery would not be likely until mid-December at the earliest. According to a general medical assessment, until the voice recovers (2-4 weeks), Radiohead’s adherence to the Berlin dates would not be 100% guaranteed. Accordingly, Thom Yorke would not be able to sing full concerts again until mid-December at the earliest.
Colin Greenwood is on tour in January – with Nick Cave
Radiohead’s Berlin concerts are still scheduled to take place as planned. Let’s just think that this doesn’t work: concerts around Christmas would perhaps be just as complicated to book in large arenas as “between the years” or even New Year’s Eve. Regardless of the fact that many fans traveling from abroad (for Berlin, Radiohead have chosen a ticket purchase zone in almost all of Eastern Europe) may prefer to spend these important days in December at home.
Would catch-up dates in January be conceivable? Another problem would arise here: the availability of a Radiohead musician. If Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood remains part of Nick Cave’s live band, January 2026 namely quite close to Nick Cave’s tour dates.
From January 16th to February 6th, 2026, Cave will be traveling in Australia and New Zealand. Ten concerts with the Bad Seeds. Then Radiohead only had the first two weeks of January and the period from February onwards in Berlin – it was unclear whether the band would still want to perform together.
But this is all speculation – albeit speculation that could come true. We hope that Radiohead will play four concerts in this country from December 8th to 12th. With a healthy Thom Yorke.
