This is how the new nativity scene in Brussels really came about: “First they had faces”

The Brussels nativity scene continues to cause division. The wooden manger has made way for a – according to the city and Church – “modern interpretation” with faceless rag dolls made of textile. Consequence? Political discussions and the theft of baby Jesus. Originally the statues did have a face, but that was removed along the way. But how did this nativity scene come about? Who decided this? A reconstruction.
