The ski jumping weekend in Ruka, Finland is finally gone with the wind. The competition on Sunday had to be canceled.

The second World Cup ski jumping in Ruka, Finland has been canceled due to strong winds. The competition on Sunday was initially postponed twice by 20 minutes and then completely canceled. The qualification in the morning could not take place. The Nordic combined athletes were also unable to jump off the ski jump in wind speeds of ten meters per second.

On Saturday it was at least enough for one round in complicated conditions. Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger made it to seventh place after his false start in Lillehammer. The Slovenian Anže Lanišek, who is leading in the World Cup, once again secured victory with a leap of 142 meters. Ren Nikaido from Japan came second ahead of Slovenia’s Domen Prevc. The German hopeful Philipp Raimund was eliminated in the first round.

There are still three weekends until the Four Hills Tournament (from December 29th). Next week we’ll be heading to Wisla, Poland, followed by competitions in Klingenthal and Engelberg in Switzerland. The world association Fis still wants to provide information about a possible replacement competition for Ruka.
