Social scammers publish pictures of Johanna Hagström.
Swedish skier Johanna Hagström, 27, has noticed a disgusting phenomenon on social media.
Unknown people present Hagström on Facebook. New profiles with his name are constantly appearing on Facebook and Instagram.
– I have blocked and reported numerous profiles, he says.
Fake profiles post the same pictures as Hagström, so at least on the surface they can seem genuine.
– Messages are written to people from the profiles. Then people think it’s me.
It doesn’t hurt Hagström himself so much, but it does for others.
– I feel more sad for the people who fall victim to those profiles, says the skier.

Similar fake profiles are made of other athletes. Hagström’s national teammate Jonna Sundling is one of the victims.
– Most of the time we don’t even know that such a thing is happening, because we don’t see it ourselves, says Hagström.
So far, there is no watertight solution to the problem.
– I wish Facebook and Instagram would limit how many profiles one person can have. That way, the problem might be solved.
Hagström won the traditional sprint of the Ruka World Cup in 2024. In his career, the speedster has taken ten podium places in the sprint distances of the World Cup.
