According to local residents, a new truck arrives every two hours at night. Children who sleep in the surrounding homes also suffer from it. “So that’s why I put in my earplugs,” says one of them. “And I often turn on the fan. It makes a lot of sense. But it is quite irritating if I have to sleep like that. Because it is also winter, so it is quite cold.”
Roller carts
Another local resident hears the sound an idling truck makes in the parking lot. “If you hear this at night, it’s terrible,” he says. He says that the roller carts and the loading of the packages also cause noise pollution and that traffic has become unsafe.
The district is a so-called ‘development area with a residential-work area’, which means that there are both businesses and homes. At the same time, night-time freight traffic is not permitted at this address. The North District says it is also discussing this with the owner of the building, but a spokesperson for the district also points out that the nuisance would be ‘temporary’. The distribution center will move in mid-December.
