Michael Jackson’s glove covered with Swarovski diamonds went under the hammer in Tilburg on Saturday for 37,000 euros. The glove of The King of Pop was the highlight of the auction Dutch Auction Company where other items from the artist were also offered. Yet only one person can call themselves the happy new owner of the glove on Saturday.

Previously, auctioneer Richard Singh thought the glove would fetch between 30,000 and 50,000 euros. Other auctions had even shown that this amount could have doubled. “If there are a number of bidders who want that glove at any cost, then it could easily add up,” Richard Singh said at the time.

Those kinds of amounts were not reached on Saturday. Still, the glove that Jackson wore during his History World Tour in 1996.

Long auction day
Potential buyers and Jackson enthusiasts were able to take a look at the glove on Thursday and Friday, before the auction started on Saturday afternoon. The bidding continued until approximately nine o’clock in the evening, both live in Tilburg and online.

Expensive purchase
The new owner has not yet arrived with the offered amount of 37,000 euros. That amount excludes auction costs and 21 percent VAT. A total of 48,192.50 euros will be paid for the purchase. Of course, you get something in return, because who can say they deserve a glove The King of Pop has in the drawer?

Other items were also popular
The other Michael Jackson items that were auctioned on Saturday were also popular. For example, the pair of shoes he wore during a concert in Berlin in 1992 sold for 7,000 euros and one of his hats went under the hammer for 4,400 euros. All the items together raised about 54,800 euros.
