Warrior Events, the Meppel company known for its real life adventure games, will move from the center of Meppel to the former Isala Hospital in the city from January. The new building will officially open from May.

The former Diaconessenhuis has several floors, of which Warrior Events is using three: the former Emergency Room, the recovery rooms of the operating department and the basements with associated underground tunnels. The popular weekend games will continue in this building, but a new branch of the company will also be added.

Warrior Events is also starting a second company: ImpactSim Netherlands, a training facility for healthcare personnel. In the former hospital, employees from emergency departments and psychiatric institutions, among others, can follow realistic simulations with actors. “We are the first company in the Netherlands to offer such simulations for healthcare,” says Alita Smit of Warrior Events.

ImpactSim Netherlands focuses on training for healthcare professionals in a realistic environment. The simulations range from everyday emergency situations to complex disaster scenarios, in which actors play an important role. This way, care teams can practice with scenarios that rarely occur in practice, but for which they must be prepared.

According to Smit, this offers staff the opportunity to make important decisions and work together as a team under safe conditions. The new building will be equipped with an advanced technology system, partly based on AI, that supports the training courses.

The new concept fits in with the existing activities of Warrior Events. While the company still organizes real life horror and thrill games on weekends, during the week healthcare employees are given the opportunity to train their skills in an environment that has been simulated in detail. “The special thing is that we combine entertainment and serious training in the same building, but each use has its own focus and effect,” Smit explains.

The move to the former hospital not only offers Warrior Events and ImpactSim Netherlands more space, but also opportunities for growth and innovation. From May, visitors and healthcare institutions can experience the new facilities in Meppel: excitement and adventure during the weekend with real life games, and professional healthcare training in a realistic and safe environment during the week. This gives the building a new function and strengthens the city as a location for both entertainment and professional development.
