Bets is clear about what you should do. “The role is very angry all the time, that’s what it comes down to,” she says. The film is an informative video for children who have just come into contact with a telephone and social media.

Grandpa or grandma doesn’t understand

Ultimately, Bets, who made the film with four fellow students, hopes that the film will be played in classrooms. It’s a bit like the Klokhuis, where we want to explain a concept in a cheerful way that appeals to this target group.”

The concept that needs to be explained is ‘citizen journalism’, says Bets. According to the student, children are increasingly following the news via influencers.

“Which is very interesting, and is no longer something that people over 70 have ever experienced. And that grandpa or grandma is very angry about that, because he doesn’t understand it.”

Tight deadline

Experts explain how citizen journalism works and what the advantages and disadvantages are. The grandfather or grandmother in the video must not only be willing to show off in front of the camera, but also have time to spare at short notice.

“It’s a bit of a hurry, because the deadline is in two weeks. We want to start filming next week,” Bets explains.

Intense, crazy role

The recordings last a morning or an afternoon and the students can simply come and film at home. According to Bets, the most important thing is that you simply ‘really enjoy’ playing an intense, but especially crazy, role and really dive into it for part of the day.

Bets is not necessarily looking for award-winning experts in the profession. People over 70 without acting experience are more than welcome to register. “It’s mainly to have a really nice afternoon.”
