Chacarita will have its great collective celebration: this Saturday, November 29, from 4 p.m. and throughout the day, the first edition of the Festival I know you Chacaritaan open, free meeting designed for residents and visitors to explore the neighborhood through its history, culture and identity.

The festival proposes an expanded experience: more than 80 cultural centers, recreational spaces, bars, cafes and restaurants They will participate in live activities with artists, writers, photographers and designers. In different parts of the neighborhood there will be themed walks, workshops, talks, gastronomic proposals and actions designed for all ages.

Among the featured activities are guided tours to rediscover Chacarita: “Chacarita yesterday and today”a walk that departs at 4 p.m. from Corrientes and Concepción Arenal avenues, on the corner of Parque Los Andes; and “Walking awake”which will depart at 4:30 p.m. from the central mast of the same park. There will also be a photographic outing with schools and visual groups to record the neighborhood with a creative perspective (activity with prior registration), as well as a open vocal ensemble organized by Casa de Canto at LABA (Fraga 648) at 7 p.m.

The gastronomic proposal will add discounts and special menus, and the neighborhood businesses will open their doors for workshops and participatory activities. Another initiative will be “Chacarita opens her albums”where neighbors will share photos and family memories that are part of the collective memory of the neighborhood. This affective archive will be complemented with video mapping that will project historical images to visually reconstruct its identity.

The closing will be pure rock at the iconic Bar Rodneywhere a live radio program will be broadcast and anecdotes, stories and music will be shared in an emblematic space in the area.

“This festival is a bridge between the past and the present,” he explained. Barbara Prajscreator and organizer of the meeting. “We wanted to bring to our memory the history of the neighborhood, which is part of the development of the city, and recognize corners that often go unnoticed. It is also an opportunity to meet as neighbors.”

I know you Chacarita was born as a self-managed project: each artist, business or neighbor decided what to contribute and how to participate. “Doing this festival is sharing everything we are: a neighborhood with talent, strength and the power of the collective,” highlights the organization.

The event has the support of Salgado Foods, La Fuerza, Martín Pelach Inmobiliaria, La Noire Café, La Nube, Gestión Creativa, Complejo Chacarita and Sanguchito, and with the collaboration of Comuna 15.
