Led light masks, which have been glowing for a long time in social media, are now also becoming a hit in Finland. Retailers have noticed that during the Black Friday offer week, their popularity has become hot.
Assistant sales manager for small machines Miikka Lampinen Gigantista says that the popularity of LED light masks has been surprising.
– We knew how to prepare for it, but it has still been a pleasure to notice that our guess was true, says Lampinen.
– However, it is a newer product that does not quite belong to the cheapest price category when talking about small household appliances.
Led light masks come in different prices, but their typical price is hundreds of euros.
According to Lampinen, Light masks have been part of Gigant’s selection for a few years, but only now have their sales really increased.
The cosmetics chain Lyko is also reported to have noticed significant interest in LED light masks.
– We have ordered extra quantities of the products due to high demand, and we believe that the led masks are Black Week the fastest growing category, says Lyko’s director of responsibility and communications Tom Thornblom by e-mail.
According to Thörnblom, Silk’s LED light mask is currently one of the best-selling products on the entire site. Instead, Dr. Dennis Gross’s more expensive light mask is already out of stock.
What the hell is a led light mask?
The home skin care device is claimed to have many beauty benefits. LED lights come in different colors, and they can help, among other things, with signs of aging or acne.
Ylen in 2024 interviewed by a specialist in dermatology Ville Kiisken according to, there is some valid research evidence for LED light in skin care.
There is evidence of red light, for example, in reducing mild rosacea redness and strengthening collagen. Blue light, on the other hand, can reduce minor inflammation.
However, there is still no information on the long-term effects of home-use masks, and their effectiveness is clearly weaker than professional treatments, Kiiski reminds in the Yle article.
They say the same thing of the British broadcasting company BBC interviewed dermatologists. According to them, the use of a light mask is generally safe as long as it is ensured that the device meets EU product requirements.
A light mask can possibly support a good skin care routine, but it is unlikely to help on its own with, for example, severe acne, points out the dermatologist interviewed by the BBC Justine Kluk.

Giganti’s best-selling model during the Black Friday offer week has been Shark’s CryoGlow mask.
– I thought that this could be of interest to many, because it has caused a buzz on social media, says Miikka Lampinen, Gigant’s assistant sales manager for small machines.
Shark’s light mask has received good reviews, and for example beauty magazine Allure chose it as the best led light mask of the year.
It has partly received critical reviews from consumers on social media, as some find the mask too heavy. It may be due to the fact that the mask has more features than usual: in addition to red and blue light, it has a cooling method for the eye sockets.
Silk’n LED Face Mask 100, price 94.50-157 euros.
Silk’s light mask belongs to the more affordable price category of light masks, and it is sold in Finland at least by Lyko and Kicks.
British newspaper The Guardian named it the best budget option for LED light masks this year. The mask has four different LED lights: red, blue, yellow and purple.
The mask has received criticism for not having a timer and for lacking near-infrared light, which has been shown to strengthen collagen in the skin.

Currentbody’s led light mask has become one of the most popular light masks on social media. It only has a red light.
However, only the older model is on sale in the Finnish market, and the manufacturer of the light mask has already developed a more efficient version of it.
