John van den Heuvel is structurally protected, while Lale Gül will soon have to do without security again. A scandal, Johan Derksen thinks. “Is Lale Gül less important?!”

The fact that Lale Gül’s security is being stopped is not only a concern for the opinion maker herself, but also for Johan Derksen. He has a professional-friendly relationship with her and finds it very risky that she will have to walk the streets without security again. According to him, it is a kind of invitation to malicious people.

John does, Lale doesn’t

John van den Heuvel always maintains his guard, Johan notes in the podcast Greetings from Grolloo. “It occurred to me when I read that Lale Gül’s security is being phased out and John van den Heuvel has a whole platoon around him. Then I thought: is Lale Gül less important than John van den Heuvel?”

“I know that monitoring costs a fortune, but at a certain point it is also dangerous to stop, because that is an invitation for people with bad intentions to take action again.”

‘Pay yourself!’

If Lale wants to continue to be protected, she will have to pay for it herself. Johan also experienced that once. “I once received a call from the public prosecutor that I had to come by because I was being threatened and that I needed surveillance.”

“He said: ‘But we don’t pay that as a government, because that is labor-related and then you have to pay for it yourself or your boss has to pay for it.’ Fortunately, John de Mol paid for that. I had a guard like that on my neck 24 hours a day for three months. That costs a lot of money.”

Peter light

Finally: what does Johan think of the statements John recently made about him? “John briefly commented in the VARA guide about how he is ‘mortally annoyed’ with me. That’s allowed. I’ve said something about John a few times.”

He concludes: “I always call him Peter R. de Vries light and he probably won’t like that, but other than that I have no problems with John van den Heuvel at all.”
