André van Duin and his partner occupy not one, but two homes because he finds the commute between Amsterdam and Laren – about half an hour – too intense. “Pied-à-terre.”

Housing shortage in the Netherlands? Not if you’re a multi-millionaire. Give André van Duin two! Because he finds the half-hour drive to the Media Park a bit too far from his home in Amsterdam, the comedian has bought an additional apartment in Laren. A house of 124 square meters, which is empty for most of the month.

Monopoly

Will André move completely to that pied-à-terre or will he continue to play Monopoly? “No. We may be moving, but not yet. I still live in Amsterdam for the time being. We bought an apartment in the Gooi, but that’s more for being there when I have to work.”

Why then? He continues in the Weekend: “Otherwise it’s just a matter of driving back and forth. But no, I haven’t moved yet.”

Capital

André has no idea whether he could do without the capital. “Well, I don’t know… Amsterdam is really nice, it’s a lively city of course. So I don’t really have a reason to leave Amsterdam, but you never know.”

What does his partner Fernando want? He finally says: “I like both, Amsterdam and Het Gooi. That answer is of no use to you, haha! Where André might be happier? He likes it in Amsterdam, but we also have acquaintances in Het Gooi, such as Willeke Alberti, Imca Marina and Joop van den Ende.”
