The Munich attacker has repeatedly been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga. Now Harry Kane has once again commented on the reports – and surprised with his directness.
These are words that will please FC Bayern’s management team and all fans of the record champions: In view of ongoing speculation about a change, Harry Kane has emphasized that the Munich team remains the first point of contact. What’s more: “I’m open to staying at Bayern longer,” said Kane at Bayern’s press conference on Tuesday evening in London. And further: “We are one of the best teams in Europe, there is no other team I want to go to – I still have 18 months on my contract. I am happy here. We will have discussions about a possible new contract in the coming months.”
Kane once again spoke about the effect of the transfer to the German record champions. “This move was one of the best decisions of my life – I enjoyed every moment: the new league, the European Cup nights, the Bundesliga, the different cultures, that helped me to develop and improve – as a player and person.”
Recently there were reports that FC Barcelona was interested in Kane. According to speculation, the striker has a release clause next year worth 65 million euros.
Even before Bayern’s departure for the Champions League game at Arsenal FC (Wednesday from 9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online), Bayern sports director Max Eberl had commented on the rumors: “We have a clear timetable with Harry that we said we’ll sit down at the beginning of the year,” said Eberl. “I think Harry shows every game on the pitch how comfortable he feels, how comfortable his family feels in Munich. I think he’s in the form of his life.”
Kane also deserved to play “a role” in the honors for the best footballer in the world, said Eberl. The 52-year-old praised Kane’s versatility and the fact that he puts himself at the service of the team. After the speculation about FC Barcelona’s interest, he didn’t react with a tired smile, but also had “no big worry lines.”
