A brilliant first half paved the way for a clear 4:1 (4:1) home win for 1. FC Kaiserslautern on matchday 13 of the 2nd Bundesliga. The Red Devils took advantage of Holstein Kiel’s mistakes on Sunday and ended the mini-winless streak at home in Betzenberg with the win.
After 1. FC Kaiserslautern remained without a win in the last two home games, coach Torsten Lieberknecht’s team was able to set off fireworks at home against Holstein Kiel. Three goals from Finnish striker Naatan Skyttä (7th/11th/45th) and the first professional goal from Mika Haas ensured a clear lead in the first half. “I was incredibly happy”20-year-old Haas rejoiced at the sports show microphone: “It was a reward for my hard work.”

“It was a great feeling in front of the west curve, in front of the crowd, to score my first goal. My emotions just poured out of me.”the full-back underlined the importance of the home crowd. The guests were also aware of this: “The stadium has an incredible power.”emphasized Kiel goalkeeper Jonas Krumrey.
Alexander Bernhardsson was able to shorten the score with a penalty (28′), but the guests were a step too slow for the strong hosts throughout the game. In addition, Holstein had to play outnumbered from the 49th minute onwards after David Zec had to leave the field with a yellow-red card. Goalkeeper Krumrey found clear words after the final whistle: “Extremely bitter, but it’s our own fault. We slept in the beginning, were always too slow, too late. Simply bad of us.”
Both teams started with enormous speed, so that the fans in the Fritz Walter Stadium hardly had time to breathe. Skyttä scored to give FCK an early lead in the 7th minute after Marlon Ritter, who was rotated into the starting line-up, won the decisive duel in the penalty area. Just a few minutes later, Kaiserslautern followed up: Semih Sahin played a strong long ball into the path of Skyttä, who scored his sixth goal of the season with a precise finish in the 11th minute.

Kiel keeper Krumrey had no chance again, so early on there were many signs pointing to a clear home win. However, a mistake in the backward movement brought the guests back into the game. Adrian Kapralik initially asserted himself strongly in the duel and was then clumsily brought down by Maxwell Gyamfi. Captain Bernhardsson converted the penalty to make it 1-2 (28′), as the Kiel team had hardly been able to make their own mark up to that point.
A wasted day for Kiel’s David Zec. The defender was shown a yellow-red card in the 49th minute.
The FCK still dominated the game and restored the old gap shortly before the break. A deflected shot from Ivan Prtajin slipped through the penalty area and Haas pushed the ball over the line from close range – once again Kiel’s defense, which was so strong this season, seemed unfocused. When all the Kiel fans were already looking forward to the half-time whistle, one of them still hadn’t had enough. After the visitors lost the ball in the build-up, the Red Devils quickly switched gears and Skyttä finished from 16 meters to make the score 4-1 at halftime – a hat trick for the Finn.
Geb-Red for Zec: Kiel outnumbered from the 49th minute
An unfortunate slip by Leon Robinson opened the second half and gave Kiel a huge chance to make it 2-4 (48th). Marcus Müller ran alone towards Julian Krahl, went around the Lauter goalkeeper, but failed from a tight angle. Instead of a goal, seconds later there was the next setback for the guests. Zec, who had already been warned, accidentally hit Ritter in the face and had to leave the field with a yellow-red card (49′). After that the game died down a little and 1. FCK confidently managed their clear lead.
He is the youngest FCK player in professional football: 16-year-old Dion Hofmeister celebrated his debut against Kiel.
Only Prtajin continued to cause danger on the offensive. The top striker failed several times due to Krumrey’s strong parrying. However, there was hardly any relief for the guests, only the Kiel goalkeeper prevented a greater deficit. In the 83rd minute, a Lauterer homegrown player celebrated his league debut. 16-year-old Dion Hofmeister came on for the three-goal scorer Skyttä, making him the youngest FCK player in professional football. Dickson Abiama had the last chance, but Krumrey also thwarted the hosts’ last chance and the final score remained 4-1.
