In search of reinforcements, FC Bayern is reportedly once again turning its attention to the Premier League. However, the price tag of the alleged object of desire could deter the German record champions.

The focus of Munich this time: defender Murillo from Nottingham Forest.

The problem from FC Bayern’s point of view: The 23-year-old Brazilian has now attracted a whole crowd of interested parties with his achievements, including several “European heavyweights”, as the portal “Caught Offside” reports, citing sources close to the consulting scene.

Chelsea FC is said to have already had Murillo in its sights last summer. Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC and FC Barcelona are also mentioned as interested parties.

But: Murillo’s contract in Nottingham, which runs until 2029, does not contain an exit clause. In order to get rid of the national player, a mega transfer fee would obviously be necessary. The report speaks of a whopping 80 to 90 million euros – a sum that seems unaffordable for Barca, but is also likely to deter FC Bayern.

FC Bayern: Upamecano hangout fuels rumors

So far, the Munich team has only spent more than 80 million euros on a transfer once in the club’s history. In 2023, 95 million euros went to Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane.

It seems unlikely that a defender like Murillo will reach anywhere near these dimensions.

The rumors had gained momentum because Dayot Upamecano was still hesitant about extending his expiring contract with FC Bayern.

“It has nothing to do with money. We talk a lot with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund. I’m happy here, I’m having a good season, doing my job, giving everything for this club. Let’s see what happens. I’m excited,” the 27-year-old Frenchman told media representatives after the 6-2 win in the Bundesliga against SC Freiburg.
