WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) – US President Donald Trump has once again accused Ukraine of ingratitude and blamed Europe for the continuation of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. “The Ukrainian ‘leadership’ has shown no gratitude for our efforts, and Europe continues to buy oil from Russia,” he wrote in all caps on his online mouthpiece Truth Social.

Trump had already claimed in the past that Ukraine was not sufficiently recognizing the support of the United States. He accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of ingratitude at a meeting in the White House in February. In front of the cameras, Trump and his deputy JD Vance rebuked the Ukrainian head of state. The conversation ended in an unprecedented scandal.

Trump, on the other hand, has repeatedly accused the European Union of continuing to finance the war indirectly by continuing to purchase oil from Russia. As a result of Moscow’s war of aggression, the EU issued extensive import bans on Russian energy sources such as coal and oil, but exceptions still apply.

According to Ukrainian information, talks about the US peace plan to end the Russian war of aggression were underway in Geneva on Sunday. Trump had given Selenskyj a deadline of Thursday to agree in principle to the plan. Ukraine’s supporters reject the plan in its current form. Zelenskyj wanted to make alternative suggestions. The 28-point document demands major concessions, especially from Ukraine./ngu/DP/men
