Eindhoven Airport will be closed on Saturday evening after several drones were spotted. Air traffic to and from Eindhoven has been halted. Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans has announced that ‘counter-drone assets from Defense’ are ready to intervene.

The police and military police are also present at the airport. “Due to airspace disruptions, flights have been delayed and cancellations may follow,” can be read on signs at Eindhoven Airport. The airport’s website states that flights are diverted via Weeze, Rotterdam and Brussels.

A spokeswoman for Eindhoven Airport confirms that no flights are currently departing or landing at the airport. Because there is also an air base on the site, military air traffic has also been halted.

Drones were also spotted above Volkel air base on Friday evening.
