Record champions with tenth win of the season
0:2 becomes 6:2 – Bayern dismantles Freiburg

The German record champions remain the measure of all things. SC Freiburg also has no chance against Bayern – despite a sensational start.
FC Bayern simply cannot and does not want to lose. Although Munich quickly fell 2-0 down at home against SC Freiburg, the record champions turned the Bundesliga game around in the end – and won comfortably 6-2 (2-2). A comeback that Arsenal FC will have watched closely. Next Wednesday the top clubs will meet in a direct duel in the Champions League (from 9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).
Yuito Suzuki (12th minute) and Johan Manzambi (17th) scored for Freiburg before the Bavarian scoring spree began: Lennart Karl (22nd), brace Michael Olise (45th + 2 and 85th), Dayot Upamecano (55th), Harry Kane (60th) and substitute Nicolas Jackson (78th) scored the goals for the home team.
By the way: Bayern set their own record with their 10th win of the season. Coach Vincent Kompany’s team is now in first place in the table for 43 match days in a row across all seasons. Only the Munich team had previously achieved this from March 1972 to June 1973 under coach Udo Lattek.
After a gastrointestinal infection, Manuel Neuer was fit to play in goal on time. The Bayern captain initially experienced something completely new this season. The ball ended up in his box twice after corners. First Suzuki scored from eight meters, then Manzambi headed in unhindered.
The fans’ twelve-minute silent protest was very surprising. SC coach Julian Schuster’s plan to stress Bayern courageously and with a lot of intensity worked. Kompany’s team seemed taken by surprise. Joshua Kimmich experienced this on the bench. The DFB captain, who recently played with the national team in the 6-0 win against Slovakia in the successful World Cup qualification despite an injury to his foot, was rested. “Manu felt good yesterday, Jo didn’t,” Kompany explained his impressions of the final training session on Sky before the game.
Bayern have to play the top game in the Champions League at Arsenal FC next Wednesday. A fit Kimmich would be important. Serge Gnabry was not in the Munich squad after the international matches due to knee problems. “He needs treatment. Hopefully not for too long. But I can’t say too much about it,” said Kompany. It is therefore unclear whether Gnabry will be back against Arsenal.
As with the 2-2 draw at Union Berlin before the international break, Bayern were vulnerable against Freiburg and no longer as dominant as before. It took the individual class of a Karl or an Olises, who set up the first two goals for each other, to correct the false start to the game.
Munich’s offensive force, with the Frenchman Olise involved in five goals, ultimately became too powerful for the guests, who were unable to maintain their exhausting pressing football.
