The 17-year-olds present at the first military information sessions included Nyomi, Noah and Timo. All three have their own reasons for considering a year of military service. And young people don’t do this for the money, even though they think the 2,118 euros net per month is a nice bonus. “I dare a lot and I want to know what my body can handle,” says Noah. “But above all: I want to learn discipline.”
