The nutrition recommendations revised a year ago can be seen in the shopping baskets of Finns, according to S-group’s sales data. Pretzel sales have decreased by seven percent in S Group stores since the new recommendations were published. The sale of sausages has also decreased by three percent.
On top of the bread, cold meats have been replaced especially with cucumber, tomato, paprika and salad. Sales of fresh fruits and vegetables increased by four percent compared to the previous year.
Total sales of meat decreased by 1.2 percent.
Minced meat sales decreased by three percent, but poultry meat sales increased by 5 percent and pork sales by 3 percent compared to the previous year.
In addition to nutritional recommendations, the development of meat sales has also been influenced by the availability challenges of beef, which were also reflected in the sale of other ground meats.
