LinkedIn launches its audio and video platform

In order to host virtual events for the 800 million users of its site, LinkedIn has developed a new interactive platform. If, initially, only audio features will be available, those related to video should arrive in the following months. This new tool is reminiscent of the Clubhouse application or the twitter Spaces.

A beta version of the LinkedIn platform available from January

The platform offered by LinkedIn will be launched in a beta version during the month of January for a handful of users. It will aim to market and present interactive live events with a focus on audio content. It will be open to creators who already use LinkedIn. When the creator proposes an event, the tool attributes statuses to the participants, as host or organizer.

For now, these interactive events should be free. However, paid access can be considered, in the form of a ticket office offered by the organizers. With this potential monetization, LinkedIn could guarantee the creation of ambitious events, whose themes and speakers will be of quality.

Behind the creation of this tool, LinkedIn wants its users to stay longer on its site. By offering events or audio and video discussions from the social network, Internet users are not obliged to use third-party services to organize talks, conferences, or even events on a subject related to the professional world. In addition, at the end of an event, the remaining participants will be able to continue their conversation without any worries.

Surf the success of LinkedIn Live and take advantage of Clubhouse’s breathlessness

Even though Clubhouse was open to everyone last July, the app is running out of steam. Microsoft’s social network is well aware of this, hence the capitalization of its efforts on the creation of a similar platform on its site. Professionals will be able to open certain accesses to certain people, and thus invite spectators to react. Moderation tools will be made available to hosts and organizers in order to better manage their event.

The events considered to be the most interesting and the most significant will be highlighted on the platform so that they are seen by all users.

With this new platform, LinkedIn plans to go further than with its Live Video tool. This allowed all members and approved pages to stream live video content to a LinkedIn page, profile or event. With 1.5 million creators, the social network is satisfied with this dynamic and wishes to surf it by facilitating the organization of virtual round tables.
