On the day of Saturday 15 November 2025 Ford produced the latest model of the Focus: the decision to stop production was announced in 2022, when the Blue Oval had identified the main objective of implementing its electrification strategy for the market. The disappearance of the Focus, which follows that of the Fiesta, also involves the total stop of activities at the factory Saarlouisin Germany, home of the sedan for 27 years: opened in 1970, in over half a century it has produced more than 15.6 million of cars including the Fiesta and the Escort. Of the current 2,700 workers employed in the plant, around a thousand will remain producing components and spare parts until at least 2032, while for the others, the car manufacturer has offered early retirement, incentives for dismissal and, for those who accept, the transfer to the plant in Colony. The choice to cease production of the Ford Focus is not only an industrial and economic choice, but also represents a paradigm shift: the definitive transition from an era in which the compact sedan was the symbol of European mobility to a present dominated by electric crossovers: the latest generation of the Ford Focus has had to face the ever-increasing success of SUVs, generating margins too small to justify further developments and maintaining production.
