Publisher Prometheus confirmed on Wednesday that the book will be published in May and that it will be about the time when Wynia worked in Hilversum. The publisher does not want to provide further explanation at this time.

“Dieuwke Wynia is free to write a book about her experiences,” BnnVara said on Wednesday when asked. “It is her perspective on a period that has caused a lot of excitement and about which several people involved have shared different experiences. We have not been asked to cooperate and see no reason to do so. This is a personal retrospective, not a journalistic product with adversarial views.”

With the whip over it

De Volkskrant wrote an article in 2022 in which dozens of DWDD employees accused Van Nieuwkerk of “transgressive behavior”. His permanent editor Dieuwke Wynia did not respond until the spring of 2025 and looked back on her collaboration with Van Nieuwkerk in a number of publications on her own blog, which she called “complex”.

Broadcasting boss Jan Slagter, who is friends with Van Nieuwkerk, responded to the announcement of Wynia’s book and publications on her blog on Wednesday. He said in the NPO Radio 1 program Speech makers that he has so far lacked “self-reflection” with Wynia and gets the feeling that she is “cleaning up her alley”.

According to Slagter, the story of the Volkskrant that Wynia “was not an easy aunt” and that she “had a whip over the editorial staff.”
