After three competitive game wins in a row, Eugen Polanski was promoted from interim to head coach at Borussia Mönchengladbach and will receive a contract until 2028. The Foals confirmed this on Tuesday. The 39-year-old took over the team after the third matchday, when they were in the relegation zone with just one point. As a result, the ex-professional stabilized the team little by little, even though they suffered three significant defeats in the meantime, and is currently in twelfth place with the Gladbach team.

“He impressed us right from the start with his content and character qualities and we are sure that with him as head coach we can continue the positive development of the last few weeks,” said Gladbach’s sports director Rouven Schröder. Polanski explained: “I have never made a secret of what this job at my hometown club means to me. Being head coach at Borussia gives me immense joy and fills me with pride.”

Most recently, Polanski gathered further arguments for continued employment with the 3-1 home win in the Rhenish derby against 1. FC Köln. Now, during the international break, he signed a contract until 2028 with, according to “Picture“Prescribed scenarios in the event of success and failure”. Polanski followed the released Swiss Gerardo Seoane on September 15th and has achieved an average points average of 1.38 from eight games so far. Seoane’s was just 1.22 from 78 games.

Polanski, who played 54 competitive games for Borussia in his professional career, had previously coached the Foals’ U23s since 2022. Before that, he also worked for the U17s and was a liaison coach for the professionals. Overall, he has been employed by the club again since 2019. He and his team will now face the bottom of the table 1. FC Heidenheim for the first time as head coach on November 22nd (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.).
