The HSG Wetzlar handball players were unable to stop their downward spiral. The Central Hesse team showed a better performance against Gummersbach than last time, but in the end the disappointment was still great.
The Bundesliga handball players from HSG Wetzlar lost their fifth game in a row on Monday evening. Despite a significantly better performance than last, the Central Hesse team suffered an annoying 29:31 (14:14) defeat in their own hall against VfL Gummersbach. With ten goals, Philipp Ahouansou was the HSG’s most successful thrower.
The home team showed a decent performance from the start. With a somewhat more offensive defensive formation than usual, they had Gummersbach quite well under control. However: Some opportunities remained unused in the attack and the shooting rate turned out to be a weak point. Only Ahouansou scored reliably (six goals in the first half). The draw at the break was fair.
Medical emergency ensures Game interruption
Even after the break, the game remained balanced. Neither team could really pull away until the game had to be interrupted after almost 40 minutes of play. There was a medical emergency in the stands, and the fan is said to be doing comparatively well now. The game could only be continued after almost a quarter of an hour. In the final phase, the guests, who had started the game as favorites, simply acted more badly – and thus gave Wetzlar another used handball evening. The HSG stops there 15th place in the table.
