Galatasaray’s star football player Victor Osimhen gave an interview to UEFA.
The Nigerian star football player made important statements to the yellow-reds about the transfer process and his life story.
“I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS IN MY LIFE”
“I did what I had to do for my family and myself. I arrived in Istanbul, I had never seen anything like this in my life. One of the club’s employees said that I would see a lot of people when I went out. I said, ‘What do you mean, there are a lot of fans waiting for me outside?’ I asked. When I went there, I encountered an incredible view. “When I saw this, it felt like a fresh breeze was coming over me.”
“I SAID THIS IS WHERE I WANT TO GO”
“Galatasaray is a big club, but I didn’t know how big it was until I joined. You need to know that every drop of sweat you shed is for this crest! Finally I said, ‘This is where I want to go, this is where I want to be'”
“FOOTBALL WAS THE ONLY WAY TO ESCAPE FROM MISERY”
“My mother passed away at a very young age. My brother called me. He said my mother fell asleep and never woke up… It was difficult. Football was the only escape for me and my family from misery… There was a landfill where I grew up. My friends and I would go there and look for shoes… If you found a different brand of shoe for the right foot and a different brand of shoe for the left foot, I would put them together and use them to play the next day.”
Paul Erikewe, Victor Osimhen’s first coach: “I saw him for the first time when he was 9-10 years old, playing men on the street. When I saw him, I used my all-seeing eagle eyes. He was going to be a great player in the future. I invited him to my academy and he made history.”
“PEOPLE DON’T SEE THIS”
Victor Osimhen’s older sister: “When my mother gave birth to him, my father named him ‘Victory’. He was a miracle child. People don’t see that, they don’t know his journey. You don’t know how much he fought. Victor is a warrior.”
“Where do I see myself in the future? In a big place… But I have to keep working hard. I have to keep improving myself every day. I’m sure I will get there… My mother’s death continues to hurt me even today. She didn’t live long enough to enjoy the things she sacrificed for…”
