A lioness was missing for hours on Saturday. The incident took place at a small local zoo in the Ukrainian city of Khmelnytskyi. According to the zoo’s director, the lionesses escaped after unknown persons forced the locks of their enclosure, according to reports on social media. Several local police units were called in to safely return the animals to their enclosure. Zoo staff managed to quickly return one of the two lionesses. The other lioness managed to escape from the zoo, after which an hours-long search began. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
